Vacation: the map is not the territory

We took our trusty Prius out to Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument and it did pretty well, although we were not able to fully access some of the rougher roads....thought we might shake the car apart on the endless washboards of Hole in the Rock road, near Escalante.  However, we were able to travel just fine on a number of dirt roads throughout the area, most notably Hells backbone, which started off in Boulder as a lovely dirt road meandering through Pinon pine stands.  It was ...nice, but not awesome.....until just before the Amazing Bridge!

And on the other side......also droppng some 1600 feet.....
